Sycamore Shoals Hospital emergency department is open twenty-four hours, seven days a week to coordinate and ensure your prompt diagnosis and efficient treatment.
At the Sycamore Shoals Hospital Emergency Department, you can be assured of complete services. Double physician coverage in the Emergency Department shortens wait times. There is a 24-hour laboratory for emergency testing, a 24-hour radiology department for required x-rays and a 24-hour pharmacy to take care of your medication requirements.
Staff
In emergency situations, experience counts. The physicians and nurses of the Emergency Department have years of experience in treating all types of emergencies, from broken bones to serious wounds.
The Emergency Services staff provides family-oriented, compassionate emergency care in a timely manner.
A staff of registered nurses will monitor you from triage to discharge. The medical personnel will consult with your doctor, as needed, and provide follow-up communication to your physician.
Sycamore Shoals Hospital has also added a Family Advocate in the Emergency Department. The Family Advocate assists patients and their families while they are in the ED. The addition of a Family Advocate to the ED has proven to be both comforting to patients and their families as well as helpful to the ED staff.

The Emergency Department at Sycamore Shoals Hospital is easy to find with convenient parking. The Emergency Department is backed by Wings Air Rescue, the region's only hospital based dedicated air transport service.

- From Johnson City:From Interstate 26 take exit 24 ( US SR 321 Elizabethton ) . Turn right off the exit ramp. You will be traveling north on US 321. Continue straight through several traffic lights. You will travel approximately seven miles. Sycamore Shoals Hospital is on the left.
- From Bluff City and Bristol: Take Highway 19 until you reach the Broad Street intersection in Elizabethton. Turn right. Continue straight through several traffic lights. You will travel approximately four miles. Sycamore Shoals Hospital will be on your right.
- From Roan Mountain, Mountain City and North Carolina: Take Highway 19 until you reach the Broad Street intersection in Elizabethton. Turn left. Continue straight through several traffic lights. You will travel approximately four miles. Sycamore Shoals Hospital will be on your right.
